Divorce

Divorce is a difficult and emotional time, it affects finances, family dynamics and personal relationships. The process can be distressing and overwhelming. It is important to have a skilled and experienced divorce attorney by your side to ensure the process is as smooth as possible.

Divorce is a difficult experience often creating profound emotional turmoil and uncertainty. At this uncertain time in your life educate yourself because YOU DO HAVE A CHOICE.

  • Negotiate with your spouse (The Kitchen Table Divorce)
This is a divorce conversation had by you and your spouse in the privacy of your own home to decide the terms of your divorce. While this method is attractive because it is cost efficient, many of the decisions you are asked to make during divorce negotiations have long term emotional and economical consequences that you may not consider. This choice if agreed upon comes with the warning “buyer beware”. New Hampshire law does allow for you to hire an attorney for a limited scope saving client’s money. This is known as unbundled legal services.
  • Mediation
As a mediator Attorney Coakley is mindful about the negotiation process and how delicate the process is for the parties. Attorney Coakley works to explain to you your rights, make sure that the divorce agreement is written in clear language and includes important points that might be overlooked. Attorney Coakley successfully mediates matters every day and works tirelessly to successfully resolve even the most difficult disputes. Attorney Coakley not only practices mediation and the art of negotiation but teaches courses in the same as well.Learn more about Mediation
  • Collaborative Practice Divorce
This is a private divorce process that works outside of the courts. The parties and the professionals work together to sign an agreement. If the parties are unable, with the support of the professional team, to come to an agreement then both attorneys withdraw from representing the clients and the parties then have to start from the beginning. The process is designed to give the parties an incentive to work together in the process. This process provides parties with the most control over their divorce.
